what does autoshim in the topspin bsms do?

Hello,

these are two different items, do not mix these! TopShim is used at the start up procedures, to get the shims fine or best initially. For measurements during day is this fine.

But if you want to measure a quite longer time, ... 3D/4D/xD or very long hetero nucleus 1D experiments, INADEQUATE and such sort of things, ... the initial top shims will flow away over the time. To keep the shims during a long experiment very well, then you can activate in the BSMS-Toolbox the "autoshims", ... these are running during the "d1"-Time of your experiment. It is only a fine optimization to keep it, ... normally you see at the morning a dropped lock line! With autoshim during the night, it will stay on that level!
