Hey all--

I've been using Chenomx Suite for metabolomics research. Chenomx allows the user to create custom compounds from their own experimental spectra, so that the user is not limited to those compounds which come with the software. My questions are these:

  1. If my laboratory comes up with a library of "custom" compounds to fit our needs, is there any legal reason why we would not be allowed to make that library public, so that others could also benefit? I'm only asking because the file type, .cnx, is proprietary.

  2. If there is no reason, are there any laboratories that have begun doing this? Are there any, sort of, centralized depositories for such libraries?

Best,

–Davis

Hello Davis,

Chenomx NMR Suite is designed specifically to allow users to create their own custom library entries. As such, this data belongs to the customer and not Chenomx. The software is designed in such a way to in fact promote the sharing of these library entries.

As far as I know there has been groups that have created their own custom libraries, and have shared them with other groups on a limited basis. There hasn't been a formulation of a centralized depository for such libraries.

Thanks for the response! That's too bad that there hasn't been a centralized depository, but I'm glad that these libraries can be shared. - DVigneault (Jul 19 '12 at 13:37)
